Elon Musk's Media Revolution: Can Social Media Replace Traditional News?
Is the era of traditional media truly over, or is this just the latest chapter in its evolution? Join us as we unpack the fiery exchange between the CEO of Axios and Elon Musk, where Musk claims social media users are now the real media. This claim shakes the foundation of legacy news outlets that have long held the reins on information dissemination. Amidst a cacophony of opinions and misinformation swirling on platforms like Twitter, we examine the implications of Musk's assertion and what it means for the future of how we consume news. Are social media influencers truly capable of replacing the hard-hitting journalism of The New York Times and MSNBC?
Our conversation doesn't shy away from the tensions between figures like Joe Scarborough and the social media giants. We highlight the ongoing struggle for journalistic integrity in an age where opinions can spread faster than fact-checked reports. Scarborough's candid experiences offer a glimpse into the dilemmas faced by traditional journalists caught in the crossfire of this media revolution. As we dissect these dynamics, we invite you to ponder the evolving role of media in society and what the rise of personal platforms means for the credibility and trustworthiness of information. Tune in for a thought-provoking exploration of a digital landscape where the power of opinion is both a blessing and a curse.

The CEO of Axios, which is a very far left wing news organization, has come out critical of Elon Musk and Twitter, and here is his response to Elon Musk, saying to the users of Twitter you are the news. Now let's listen to this.
Speaker 2:Everything we do is under fire. Elon Musk sits on Twitter every day, or X today, saying like we are the media, you are the media. My message to Elon Musk is bull, you're not the media.
Speaker 1:Yes, you are the media. You, the individual who finds news posts. It posts your own opinion, are the news media because organizations like Axios, cnn, msnbc have all let everybody down and the reason he is yelling this and being so enthusiastic about it is because legacy media is dying, it's dead. They're desperately trying to revive it and it's not working and this is just a pathetic attempt to keep it alive.
Speaker 2:You having a blue checkmark, a Twitter handle and 300 words of cleverness doesn't make you a reporter. You don't do that by popping off on Twitter. You don't do that by having an opinion. You do it by doing the hard work.
Speaker 3:Yeah, come on, Slow clap everybody.
Speaker 1:And how poetic, yeah come on Slow clap everybody, and how poetic I gotta say how poetic for MSNBC to slow clap to that and say, oh, thank God. I mean Twitter's about to put us out of business and Elon Musk very well may buy us. So slow clap to that Right.
Speaker 3:Extraordinary content. It needed to be said. It continues to need to be said when all of the garbage is flying around on social media, lying about reporters, lying about the hard work they do, lying about the hard work editors who lying about everything up and down you do nothing but lie about everything up and down, joe Scarborough.
Speaker 1:That's why you had to go running to Mar-a-Lago hat in hand, begging Donald Trump to leave you alone so that you can keep your job.
Speaker 3:About not only their alternative set of facts, but alternative set of facts about what people like you do, or if social media people lying every day, every hour, every minute about the news, what you do matters. What the New York Times does matters. What the Wall Street Journal does matters. What Jonathan Lemire does matters. What the Financial Times does matters. What NBC News and MSNBC reporters do matters, it matters.
Speaker 1:You literally do not matter. You don't matter, your reporting doesn't matter. Nobody's listening to you. You are for sale, and rightfully so, and I hope elon musk buys you. This is just more of the media meltdowns that are going to continue to come, and it is a glorious day to be an american.
